ALTERNATIVE ELECTRICAL POWER GENERATION

Specialists engaged in the electrical power generation industry and the energy resources management should be trained to acquire knowledge and skills not only in modern technologies, but they should also be educated and well-informed in the future industry development perspectives. In particular, within the framework of the magnitohydride hydrogen production research project a simulator has been designed to train specialists for the promising Tunkinsk deposits; appraisal deep-well drilling in the Tunkinsk deposit formation planned as early as 1989 by experts working with the USSR Academy of Sciences will be performed in the nearest future. The emphasis in the training process is laid on the technological process safety of hydrogen production and hydrogen transport along the existing pipelines, i.e. by using oil and gas trunk pipelines, specifically the "Western Siberia to the Pacific Ocean" trunk pipelines.

An additional significance of such promising projects consists in helping students get rid of the stereotypes of the "dirty" and "environmentally hazardous" occupations. Students must definitely be made aware of their involvement in and responsibility for the future transition to clean power generation, and that turbines and compressors, heaters and heat exchangers, electrical equipment will not change in principle and yet an in-depth investigation into this equipment needs to be made.
